Honoring the People and Traditions That Connect Generations
Pennridge pride is built across generations. It lives in the students learning in our classrooms
today, the alumni who continue to make an impact beyond graduation, the educators and
community members who helped shape our schools, and the traditions that bring Pennridge
together year after year. This year, two meaningful celebrations helped remind us that Pennridge
is more than a place. It is a shared story.
The Pennridge Wall of Fame continued that tradition by honoring individuals whose
accomplishments, service, leadership, and lasting contributions reflect the very best of
Pennridge. Established in 2001, the Wall of Fame celebrates graduates who have achieved
exceptional success and made meaningful contributions in their professions and communities.
The 2026 Wall of Fame class included Tim Abruzzo ’12, Jake Crouthamel ’56, John Gutekunst ’62,
Dr. David R. McPhillips ’76, and Dr. Bennett Van Houten ’76. Together, their accomplishments
span military service, collegiate athletics, coaching, healthcare, global vision care, and
internationally recognized cancer research. Their stories remind current students that the
foundation they are building now can lead to a lifetime of purpose, achievement, and service.
This year, Pennridge paid tribute to the life and legacy of Bruce Weikel, a beloved former
Pennridge High School teacher, proud Pennridge graduate, and dedicated educator who served
the district for more than 30 years. Bruce made a lasting impact on generations of students and
colleagues through his professionalism, kindness, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and deep
commitment to the Pennridge community. Bruce was also a proud champion of the district’s
agricultural roots. He cared deeply about helping students understand the importance of
farming, agriculture, and the way of life that has helped shape the Pennridge community and
identity.
