Pennridge Family Profile:
The Harris Family’s Hands-On Legacy
When Superintendent Berrios paused at a recent School Board
meeting to honor the Harris Family, it was more than recognition;
it was a celebration of Pennridge’s heart and history: connection,
continuity, and student‑centered learning. In Fall 2024, Jimmy
and Brenda Harris, proud Pennridge alumni, brought part of their
family’s dairy farm to Deibler Elementary during the Fall Festival,
complete with live calves. Students, many of whom had never
touched a farm animal, were wide‑eyed as they fed, petted, and
asked questions about the calves. What could have been a simple
science lesson became a moment of wonder, turning textbooks
into living, local learning.
As you can see in these photos, the Harris family story comes to
life. The Harris children from Pre‑K to 6th grade do it all while also
being amazing students! They haul feed, brush, and feed the
calves, milk the cows, and help with daily chores on their family’s
dairy farm before and after the school day. Each image captures a
piece of Pennridge’s living agricultural heritage, echoing the
district’s roots in our communities built by farmers, neighbors,
and families who worked the land.
The Harris family embodies what it means to be Pennridge Proud:
a community where learning is personal, tradition is alive, and the
next generation grows up knowing about its own local history. The
Harris kids don’t just watch, they pitch in, learning responsibility,
teamwork, and a love of the land that has defined Pennridge for
generations.
In their boots and big smiles, the
entire family embodies the legacy
of local agriculture while
representing the future of a
district where heritage and
hands‑on learning walk
hand‑in‑hand.
